Does anyone here have a favorite paradox? i have three:
1: Me: can you divide distance in half? you: um, yeah? me: can you do it again? you: um, yeah. me: how many times can you do this? you: forever, i guess. me: yes. so does it bother you that infinity FITS WITHIN A FINITE SPACE? |----INFINITY----|
2: This sentence is false. is it really? think about it. if it is false, then that contradicts itself, therefore making it true. if it is true, then it is also contradictory, therefore making it false. thi one makes you think, huh?
3: The sentence below is true. The sentence above is false. if the sentence below it is true , then that means that it is false, indeed. if the sentence above is false, then it means that the sentence below is true, therefore making the above true, and so on.
if you think of others, post 'em here.

this is one of my favorite's An association in sub-populations may be reversed in the population. It appears that two sets of data separately support a certain hypothesis, but, when considered together, they support the opposite hypothesis.

ok then here. Inconsistent premises always make an argument valid. Observing a red apple increases the likelihood of all ravens being black. In any non-empty pub, there is a customer such that, if he or she drinks, everybody in the pub drinks. People can make decisions based not on what they actually want to do, but on what they think that other people want to do, with the result that everybody decides to do something that nobody really wants to do, but only what they thought that everybody else wanted to do. Can one intend to drink the deadly toxin, if the intention is the only thing needed to get the reward? Exceptions to the principle that a small change in a molecule causes a small change in its chemical behavior are frequently profound. The existence of evil seems to be incompatible with the existence of an omnipotent and caring God. If truth does not exist, the statement "truth does not exist" is a truth, thereby proving itself incorrect. "You will never reach point B from point A as you must always get half-way there, and half of the half, and half of that half, and so on..." Ordering a servant not to serve you. By not serving you he disobeys the order, as he is obeying the order not to serve you.

Opposite day is an untruth, as the opposite of opposite day is not-opposite day, thereby proving Opposite day false. >.<

what do you mean by torture? paradox's are meant to trey to confuse people not torture them
p.s. I am bringing this thread back to life from the graves.
